Frequently Asked Questions

Will all students gain admission to highly selective schools after consulting with us

This is a promise that neither Josh nor any other honest college counselor can make. Josh will recommend colleges that are appropriate for students' backgrounds and help students gain entry to the very best of those colleges. Some students will indeed gain admission to the most selective schools. Though colleges do not have strict quotas, it’s certain that only a few students from Singapore will gain admission to the top colleges. Josh hopes and expects that his clients will be the ones to control those admissions spots.

How much difference can Josh make?

Many students apply with exceptional qualifications. But a student's grades, test scores, and background go only so far.  When admissions committees make their final decisions, a compelling, well written essay can absolutely make the difference.

Do international students face particular challenges?

Yes. Often, the international applicant pool is stronger than is the domestic talent pool. So international students are competing fiercely against each other. At the same time, colleges reserve only a limited number of acceptances for international students.

Many international students are eminently qualified but they -- like many domestic students -- have not been trained in the sort of writing that stands out to admissions committees. Josh will help students embrace the personal essay that will both delight and impress the colleges.

Can I pay you to write an essay for me?

No! That is unethical and we will not do that, not even if you say, "pretty please with a caramel fudge and an ice cream on top". Your essay should be your own creation; we can offer suggestions, ideas and amendments but the task of writing the essay ultimately rests with you!
